حدثنا عبد الله بن مروان، عن أرطاة، عن كعب، قال
وددت لا أموت حتى أشهد يوم الإسكندرية ليس هذا يومها، إنما يومها إذا جاءها مائة سفينة في أثرها مائة سفينة، حتى يتم سبعمائة، وفي أثر ذلك مثل ذلك، فذلك يومها، والذي نفس كعب بيده، لتقتتلن حتى يبلغ الدم أرساغ الخيل
English
I did not want to die until I witnessed the day of Alexandria. This is not its day, but its day when a hundred ships come to it, followed by a hundred ships, until seven hundred are completed, and after that the like of that. That is its day, and by the One in whose hand is the soul of Ka’b, they will fight until the blood reaches the horses’ ankles.
