حدثنا عبد الله بن مروان، عن سعيد بن يزيد التنوخي، عن الزهري، قال: " إذا اختلفت الرايات السود فيما بينهم أتاهم الرايات الصفر، فيجتمعون في قنطرة أهل مصر، فيقتتل أهل المشرق وأهل المغرب سبعا، ثم تكون الدبرة على أهل المشرق حتى ينزلوا الرملة، فيقع بين أهل الشام وأهل المغرب شيء، فيغضب أهل المغرب فيقولون: إنا جئنا لننصركم ثم تفعلون ما يفعلون؟ والله ليخلين بينكم وبين أهل المشرق فينهبونكم، لقلة أهل الشام يومئذ في أعينهم، ثم يخرج السفياني ويتبعه أهل الشام فيقاتل أهل المشرق "

Then the Sufyani will emerge, and the people of the Levant will follow him, and he will fight the people of the East.”
