Abdul Quddus and Amr bin Al-Harith told us, they said: Abdullah bin Salem Al-Homsi told us, on the authority of Ali bin Abi Talha, on the authority of Ka’b, who said: “Allah Almighty created the world in the position of a bird, so He made the two wings the east and the west, and He made the head the Levant, and He made the top of the head hummus, and in it is the beak, and if the beak decreases, the people disagree, and He made the neck Damascus, and in it is the heart, so if the heart moves, the body moves, and the head has two blows: a blow from the wing.” The eastern wing is on Damascus, and a blow is from the western wing and it is on Homs, and it is the heaviest of them. Then the head approaches the wings and plucks them out, feather by feather.”

I wished that every pearl on the face of the earth had become tar. People do not stop until they take sheep, milk them, and compete over them, until when they become numerous, they leave the cities, communities, and mosques, and flock to them. Allah has not sent a prophet, nor appointed a caliphate, nor a king except among the people of the villages and the civilization, and they did not aspire to place them among the people of the pillars or the Bedouins, so if Allah sees their desire for the groups and mosques, Allah will send to them what their right hands possess. People who speak to them in Arabic, and beat them with the Musharrafiyya until they return to the congregation and the mosques. Do not take too much captivity of the Persians. If I were to control the captives in your hands, I would kill nine out of every ten. And look at the remaining ten, then exile them to Wadi Al-Shajar, or Wadi Al-Arj, or Wadi Al-Junir. By Allah, if they remain yours, He will make life easier for you.

If a letter is read for him in the Levant: From Abdullah Abdullah Commander of the Faithful, you will soon be informed of a letter that has been read on the pulpit of Egypt: From Abdullah Abdul Rahman Commander of the Faithful. They would be struck by heavy snow for forty nights there, almost annihilating them, then they would open it and enter it, and they would exit from it between the west and the arch in the middle of the market, then they would travel from it and descend. By Lake Famiyeh or a farsang below it, then people go out against them and kill them. Their leader is a man from the descendants of Ismail. They are killed in a village called Umm al-Arab, then a rebel rises up and kills the freedom, takes captive the offspring, and rips open the stomachs of the women.
