لما انتزى ابن أبي حذيفة بمصر وخلع عثمان دعا الناس إلى أعطياتهم، فأبيت أن آخذ منه، ثم ركبت إلى عثمان فقلت: إن ابن أبي حذيفة إمام ضلالة كما قد علمت، وإنه انتزى عليها بمصر فدعانا إلى أعطياتنا، فأبيت أن آخذ منهم، فقال: قد عجزت إنما هو حقك قال

When Ibn Abi Hudhayfah seized power in Egypt and Othman was deposed, he called the people for their gifts, but I refused to take from him. Then I rode to Othman and said: Ibn Abi Hudhayfah is an imam of misguidance, as I have learned, and he attacked it in Egypt and called us for our gifts, so I refused to take from them. Then he said: I am unable, but it is your right. He said:

إذا دخل الرايات الصفر مصر فغلبوا عليها وقعدوا على منبرها فليحفر أهل الشام أسرابا في الأرض فإنه البلاء قال

If the yellow flags enter Egypt and defeat it and sit on its pulpit, let the people of the Sham (Greater Syria) dig swarms in the ground, for it is a calamity.

إذا كانت هدة بالشام قبل البيداء فلا بيداء ولا سفياني قال ليث: قد كانت الهدة بطبرية فاستيقظت لها بالفسطاط، وتخلع لها أجنحة فإذا هي ليلة طبرية قال

إن أول الناس فناء قريش، وأولهم قتلى أهل بيتي " قال

لا أقاتل في فتنة، وأصلي خلف من غلب

I do not fight during strife, and I pray behind those who are defeated

إذا حضر الغريب فالتفت عن يمينه وعن شماله فلم ير إلا غريبا فتنفس، كتب الله له بكل نفس تنفس ألفي ألف حسنة، وحط عنه ألفي ألف سيئة، فإذا مات مات شهيدا قال

If a stranger came and turned to his right and to his left and saw nothing but a stranger and took a breath, Allah recorded for him for every breath he took two thousand good deeds, and two thousand bad deeds were removed from him, and if he died he died a martyr.
