Surah 13 · verse 17

أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءࣰ فَسَالَتۡ أَوۡدِيَةُۢ بِقَدَرِهَا فَٱحۡتَمَلَ ٱلسَّيۡلُ زَبَدࣰ ا رَّابِيࣰ اۖ وَمِمَّا يُوقِدُونَ عَلَيۡهِ فِي ٱلنَّارِ ٱبۡتِغَآءَ حِلۡيَةٍ أَوۡ مَتَٰعࣲ زَبَدࣱ مِّثۡلُهُۥۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يَضۡرِبُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡحَقَّ وَٱلۡبَٰطِلَۚ فَأَمَّا ٱلزَّبَدُ فَيَذۡهَبُ جُفَآءࣰۖ وَأَمَّا مَا يَنفَعُ ٱلنَّاسَ فَيَمۡكُثُ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يَضۡرِبُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡأَمۡثَالَ۝١٧

১৭. তিনি আকাশ হতে বৃষ্টিপাত করেন, ফলে উপত্যকাসমূহ তাদের পরিমাণ অনুযায়ী প্লাবিত হয় এবং প্লাবন তার উপরের আবর্জনা বহন করে। এরূপে আবর্জনা উপরিভাগে আসে যখন অলংকার বা তৈজসপত্র নির্মাণের উদ্দেশ্যে কিছু আগুনে উত্তপ্ত করা হয়। এভাবে আল্লাহ্‌ সত্য ও অসত্যের দৃষ্টান্ত দিয়ে থাকেন। যা আবর্জনা তা ফেলে দেয়া হয় এবং যা মানুষের উপকারে আসে তা জমিতে থেকে যায়। এভাবে আল্লাহ্ উপমা দিয়ে থাকেন।

17. He sends down from the sky, rain, and valleys flow according to their capacity, and the torrent carries a rising foam. And from that [ore] which they heat in the fire, desiring adornments and utensils, is a foam like it. Thus Allah presents [the example of] truth and falsehood. As for the foam, it vanishes, [being] cast off; but as for that which benefits the people, it remains on the earth. Thus does Allah present examples
