Surah 2 · verse 228

وَٱلۡمُطَلَّقَٰتُ يَتَرَبَّصۡنَ بِأَنفُسِهِنَّ ثَلَٰثَةَ قُرُوٓءࣲۚ وَلَا يَحِلُّ لَهُنَّ أَن يَكۡتُمۡنَ مَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ فِيٓ أَرۡحَامِهِنَّ إِن كُنَّ يُؤۡمِنَّ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِۚ وَبُعُولَتُهُنَّ أَحَقُّ بِرَدِّهِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ إِنۡ أَرَادُوٓاْ إِصۡلَٰحࣰ اۚ وَلَهُنَّ مِثۡلُ ٱلَّذِي عَلَيۡهِنَّ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِۚ وَلِلرِّجَالِ عَلَيۡهِنَّ دَرَجَةࣱۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ۝٢٢٨

২২৮. আর তালাক প্রাপ্তা স্ত্রীগণ তিন রজঃস্রাব কাল প্রতীক্ষায় থাকবে। আর তারা আল্লাহ্‌ ও আখেরাতের উপর ঈমান রাখলে তাদের গর্ভাশয়ে আল্লাহ্‌ যা সৃষ্টি করেছেন তা গোপন রাখা তাদের পক্ষে হালাল নয়। আর যদি তারা আপোষ-নিম্পত্তি করতে চায় তবে এতে তাদের পুনঃ গ্রহণে তাদের স্বামীরা বেশী হকদার। আর নারীদের তেমনি ন্যায়সংগত অধিকার আছে যেমন আছে তাদের উপর পুরুষদের; আর নারীদের উপর পুরুষদের মর্যাদা আছে। আর আল্লাহ্‌ মহাপরাক্রমশালী, প্রজ্ঞাময়।

228. Divorced women remain in waiting for three periods, and it is not lawful for them to conceal what Allah has created in their wombs if they believe in Allah and the Last Day. And their husbands have more right to take them back in this [period] if they want reconciliation. And due to the wives is similar to what is expected of them, according to what is reasonable. But the men have a degree over them [in responsibility and authority]. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise
