لَخَلۡقُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَكۡبَرُ مِنۡ خَلۡقِ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ٥٧
57. The creation of the heavens and earth is greater than the creation of mankind, but most of the people do not know
৫৭. মানুষ সৃষ্টি অপেক্ষা আসমানসমূহ ও যমীন সৃষ্টি অবশ্যই বড় বিষয়, কিন্তু অধিকাংশ মানুষ জানে না।

Mufti Muhammad ShafiIn verse 56, it was said: إِن فِي صُدُورِهِمْ إِلَّا كِبْرٌ مَّا هُم بِبَالِغِيهِ (there is nothing in their hearts but pride of greatness that they are not [ able ] to reach). It means that people who quarrel in the matter of the verses of Allah without having any valid argument really look forward to rejecting this faith simply because their hearts are filled with pride and arrogance. They would like to stay ahead in the game and are so dim-witted that they have taken for granted that they have this position of strength as a result of their staunch adherence to their faith, and if they were to surrender this stance by becoming Muslims, they will be left without any power and territory of their own.
The Qur'an said: مَّا هُم بِبَالِغِيهِ (they are not [ able ] to reach), that is, these people will never reach the goals of their assumed pride, greatness and state power without embracing Islam. However, had they embraced Islam, honor and greatness would have followed in their footsteps. (Qurtubi)

English abridgementLife after Death Allah tells us that He will bring back His creation on the Day of Resurrection. That is very easy for Him, because He created the heavens and the earth, and creating them is greater than creating mankind, the first time and when He creates them again. The One Who is able to do that is able to do anything that is less than that. As Allah says: أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْاْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ الَّذِى خَلَقَ السَّمَـوَتِ وَالاٌّرْضِ وَلَمْ يَعْىَ بِخَلْقِهِنَّ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَى أَن يُحْىِ الْمَوْتَى بَلَى إِنَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ (Do they not see that Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth, and was not wearied by their creation, is able to give life to the dead Yes, He surely is able to do all things.)
(46:33) And Allah says here: لَخَلْقُ السَّمَـوَتِ وَالاٌّرْضِ أَكْـبَرُ مِنْ خَلْقِ النَّاسِ وَلَـكِنَّ أَكْـثَرَ النَّاسِ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ (The creation of the heavens and the earth is indeed greater than the creation of mankind; yet, most of mankind know not.) hence they do not think about or ponder this proof. Similarly, many of the Arabs recognized that Allah had created the heavens and the earth, but they denied and rejected the idea of the resurrection; they acknowledged something which was greater than that which they denied.
Then Allah says: وَمَا يَسْتَوِى الاٌّعْـمَى وَالْبَصِيرُ وَالَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ الصَّـلِحَـتِ وَلاَ الْمُسِىءُ قَلِيـلاً مَّا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ (And not equal are the blind and those who see; nor are those who believe, and do righteous good deeds, and those who do evil. Little do you remember!) The blind man who cannot see anything is not the same as the sighted man who can see everything as far as his eyesight reaches -- there is a huge difference between them.
By the same token, the righteous believers and the immoral disbelievers are not equal. قَلِيـلاً مَّا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ (Little do you remember!) means, most of the people remember little. وَإِنَّ السَّاعَةَ لآتِيَةٌ (Verily, the Hour (Day of Judgement) is surely coming,) means, it will indeed come to pass. لاَّ رَيْبَ فِيهَا وَلَـكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ (there is no doubt about it, yet most men believe not.) means, they do not believe in it, and in fact they doubt its existence altogether.
Tafsir al-Sa'di
Abd al-Rahman al-Sa'diيخبر تعالى بما تقرر في العقول، أن خلق السماوات والأرض -على عظمهما وسعتهما- أعظم وأكبر، من خلق الناس، فإن الناس بالنسبة إلى خلق السماوات والأرض من أصغر ما يكون فالذي خلق الأجرام العظيمة وأتقنها، قادر على إعادة الناس بعد موتهم من باب أولى وأحرى. وهذا أحد الأدلة العقلية الدالة على البعث، دلالة قاطعة، بمجرد نظر العاقل إليها، يستدل بها استدلالاً لا يقبل الشك والشبهة بوقوع ما أخبرت به الرسل من البعث.وليس كل أحد يجعل فكره لذلك، ويقبل بتدبره، ولهذا قال: { وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ } ولذلك لا يعتبرون بذلك، ولا يجعلونه منهم على بال.
Tafsir Ibn Kathir
Ismail ibn Kathirيقول تعالى منبها على أنه يعيد الخلائق يوم القيامة ، وأن ذلك سهل عليه ، يسير لديه - بأنه خلق السموات والأرض ، وخلقهما أكبر من خلق الناس بدأة وإعادة ، فمن قدر على ذلك فهو قادر على ما دونه بطريق الأولى والأحرى ، كما قال تعالى : ﴿أولم يروا أن الله الذي خلق السموات والأرض ولم يعي بخلقهن بقادر على أن يحيي الموتى بلى إنه على كل شيء قدير﴾
الأحقاف : 33 . وقال هاهنا : ﴿لخلق السموات والأرض أكبر من خلق الناس ولكن أكثر الناس لا يعلمون﴾
; فلهذا لا يتدبرون هذه الحجة ولا يتأملونها ، كما كان كثير من العرب يعترفون بأن الله خلق السموات والأرض ، وينكرون المعاد ، استبعادا وكفرا وعنادا ، وقد اعترفوا بما هو أولى مما أنكروا .

Abu Abdullah al-Qurtubiقوله تعالى : لخلق السماوات والأرض أكبر من خلق الناس مبتدأ وخبره . قال أبو العالية : أي : أعظم من خلق الدجال حين عظمته اليهود . وقال يحيى بن سلام : هو احتجاج على منكري البعث ، أي : هما أكبر من إعادة خلق الناس فلم اعتقدوا عجزي عنها ؟ . ولكن أكثر الناس لا يعلمون ذلك .

Ibn Jarir al-Tabariالقول في تأويل قوله تعالى : لَخَلْقُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ خَلْقِ النَّاسِ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لا يَعْلَمُونَ (57) يقول تعالى ذكره: لابتداع السموات والأرض وإنشاؤها من غير شيء أعظم أيها الناس عندكم إن كنتم مستعظمي خلق الناس, وإنشائهم من غير شيء من خلق الناس, ولكن أكثر الناس لا يعلمون أن خلق جميع ذلك هين على الله.

Tawheed Publication৫৭-৫৯ নং আয়াতের তাফসীর: ব্যাপক ক্ষমতার অধিকারী আল্লাহ বলেন যে, তিনি কিয়ামতের দিন মাখলুককে নতুনভাবে অবশ্যই সৃষ্টি করবেন। তিনি যখন আকাশ ও পৃথিবীর মত বিরাট বস্তু সৃষ্টি করতে সক্ষম হয়েছেন তখন মানুষকে সৃষ্টি করা অথবা ধ্বংস করে দিয়ে পুনরায় তাদেরকে সৃষ্টি করা তার কাছে মোটেই কঠিন নয়। যেমন আল্লাহ তাআলা অন্য আয়াতে বলেনঃ (আরবী) অর্থাৎ “তারা কি দেখে না যে, যিনি আকাশমণ্ডলী ও পৃথিবী সৃষ্টি করেছেন এবং ওগুলো সৃষ্টি করতে ক্লান্ত হননি, তিনি কি মৃতকে জীবিত করতে সক্ষম নন?
হাঁ (অবশ্যই তিনি সক্ষম), নিশ্চয়ই তিনি প্রত্যেক জিনিসের উপর ক্ষমতাবান।” (৪৬:৩৩) যার সামনে এমন সুস্পষ্ট দলীল বিদ্যমান তার পক্ষে এটা অবিশ্বাস করা তার অজ্ঞানতা ও নির্বুদ্ধিতারই পরিচায়ক বটে। সে যে একেবারে নির্বোধ এতে বিন্দুমাত্র সন্দেহ নেই। এটা বড়ই বিস্ময়কর ব্যাপার যে, বিরাট হতে বিরাটতম জিনিসকে মেনে নেয়া হচ্ছে, অথচ ক্ষুদ্র হতে ক্ষুদ্রতম জিনিসকে মেনে নেয়া হচ্ছে না! বরং এটাকে অসম্ভব মনে করা হচ্ছে! অন্ধ ও চক্ষুষ্মনের পার্থক্য যেমন প্রকাশমান, অনুরূপভাবে মুসলিম ও মুজরিমের পার্থক্যও সুস্পষ্ট।
সৎকর্মশীল ও দুষ্কৃতিকারীর পার্থক্য পরিষ্কার। অধিকাংশ লোকই উপদেশ খুব কমই গ্রহণ করে থাকে। কিয়ামত যে সংঘটিত হবে এতে কোন সন্দেহ নেই। তথাপি অধিকাংশ লোকই এটা বিশ্বাস করে না। একজন ইয়ামনবাসী তার শোনা কথা বর্ণনা করেছেন যে, যখন কিয়ামত নিকটবর্তী হবে তখন মানুষের উপর খুব বেশী বিপদাপদ আপতিত হবে এবং সূর্যের প্রখরতা খুব বেশী হবে। এসব ব্যাপারে আল্লাহ তাআলাই সবচেয়ে ভাল জানেন।
