Al-Walid bin Muslim told us, on the authority of Abu Ubaidah Al-Ashja’i, on the authority of Abu Umayyah Al-Kalbi, on the authority of a sheikh who entered pre-Islamic times and his eyebrows fell over his eyes. He said: “If the people of the black banners disagreed, they separated into three groups: a group calling for the Banu Fatima, a group calling for the Banu Abbas, and a group calling for themselves.”

Al-Walid and Rushdin told us, on the authority of Ibn Lahi’ah, on the authority of Abu Qabil, on the authority of Abu Ruman, on the authority of Ali, who said: “If the owners of the black banners disagree, one of the villages of Iram will be eclipsed, and the western side of its mosque will fall, then three banners will emerge in the Levant: the reddish, the spotted, and the Sufyani. The Sufyani will emerge from the Levant, and the spotted from Egypt, and the Sufyani will appear over them.”

Al-Walid told us, on the authority of a sheikh, on the authority of Al-Zuhri, who said: “If the owners of the black flags and the people of the yellow banners meet at the bridge, the people of the East will be defeated, and they will be defeated until they reach Palestine, and the Sufyani will revolt against the people of the East. When the people of the West will descend on Jordan, their leader will die, and they will separate into three groups: a group that will return to where it came from, a group that will perform Hajj, and a group that will remain firm, and the Sufyani will fight them and defeat them, and they will enter into obedience to him.”
