حدثنا عبد الله بن مروان، عن أبيه، عن عبد الله العمري، عن القاسم بن محمد، عن حذيفة بن اليمان، رضي الله عنه أنه قال لقوم من أهل مصر: " إذا أتاكم كتاب من قبل المشرق يقرأ عليكم: من عبد الله أمير المؤمنين، فانتظروا كتابا آخر يأتيكم من المغرب يقرأ عليكم: من عبد الله عبد الرحمن أمير المؤمنين، والذي نفس حذيفة بيده لتقتتلن أنتم وهم عند القنطرة، وليخرجنكم من أرض مصر وأرض الشام كفرا كفرا، ولتباعن المرأة العربية على درج دمشق بخمسة وعشرين درهما "

Abdullah bin Marwan told us, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Abdullah Al-Amri, on the authority of Al-Qasim bin Muhammad, on the authority of Hudhayfah bin Al-Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said to a people from the people of Egypt: “If a letter comes to you from the East reading to you: From Abdullah, Commander of the Faithful, then wait for another letter to come to you from the West, reading to you: From Abdullah Abdul Rahman, Commander of the Faithful.
