Abdullah bin Marwan told us, on the authority of Saeed bin Yazid al-Tanukhi, on the authority of al-Zuhri, who said: “If the black flags differ among themselves, the yellow flags come to them, and they gather in the bridge of the people of Egypt, and the people of the East and the people of the West fight seven times, and then the attack will be on the people of the East until they descend on Ramla, and something will happen between the people of the Levant and the people of the West, and the people of the West will become angry and say: We have come to support you, and then you will do what they do? between you and the people of the East, and they will plunder you, due to the scarcity of the people of the Levant on that day in their eyes. Then the Sufyani will emerge, and the people of the Levant will follow him, and he will fight the people of the East.”

If the black flags come from the East, and the yellow flags come from the West, until they meet in the navel of Syria, meaning Damascus, there will be calamity, there will be calamity.

The Sufyani will emerge from the Levant, and the spotted from Egypt, and the Sufyani will appear over them.”

Al-Walid told us, on the authority of a sheikh, on the authority of Al-Zuhri, who said: “If the owners of the black flags and the people of the yellow banners meet at the bridge, the people of the East will be defeated, and they will be defeated until they reach Palestine, and the Sufyani will revolt against the people of the East. When the people of the West will descend on Jordan, their leader will die, and they will separate into three groups: a group that will return to where it came from, a group that will perform Hajj, and a group that will remain firm, and the Sufyani will fight them and defeat them, and they will enter into obedience to him.”

Then he fights him at the Lake of Tiberias, until the calves of the lake are red with their blood, then he defeats them, then they gather for him in Al-Jabiya a great crowd, so woe to him whose family is from Al-Jabiya five miles away, and blessed is he whose family is behind that, so he defeats them. Then they gather for him in Damascus a crowd similar to the one they entered Damascus with, and they fight there until the horses run in blood to their knees, then he defeats them.

Al-Sufyani enters Kufa and takes it captive for three days, and kills sixty thousand of its people. Then he stays there for eighteen nights, dividing its wealth. He enters Kufa after fighting the Turks and Romans in Qirqisa. Then he splits a gap on them from behind them, and a group of them returns to Khurasan. He kills the horses of Al-Sufyani and demolishes the forts until he enters Kufa. He seeks the people of Khurasan, and a people calling for the Mahdi will appear in Khurasan. Then he sends Al-Sufyani to Medina. Then he takes a group of people from the family of Muhammad until he returns them to Kufa, then Al-Mahdi and Mansour leave Kufa on the run, and Al-Sufyani sends in search of them. When Al-Mahdi and Mansour reach Mecca, the Sufyani’s army descends on Al-Bayda and overwhelms them. Then Al-Mahdi goes out until he passes through Medina and rescues those who were in it from Bani Hashim. The black flags come forward until they descend on the water, and the Sufyani’s companions in Kufa inform of their landing and they flee, then he descends on Kufa to rescue those in it from Bani Hashim, and a people called the Asab emerge from the black of Kufa. They have no weapons except a few, and among them is a group of the people of Basra. They overtake the companions of the Sufyani and rescue what is in their hands from the captives of Kufa, and the black banners send out the pledge of allegiance to the Mahdi.

It was narrated that 'Abdullah said:"While we were with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), some youngsters from Banu Hashim came along. When the Prophet (ﷺ) saw them, his eyes filled with tears and his color changed. I said: 'We still see something in your face that we do not like (to see).' He said: 'We are members of a Household for whom Allah has chosen the Hereafter over this world. The people of my Household will face calamity, expulsion and exile after I am gone, until some people will come from the east carrying black banners. They will ask for something good but will not be given it. Then they will fight and will be victorious, then they will be given what they wanted, but they will not accept it and will give leadership to a man from my family. Then they will fill it with justice just as it was filled with injustice. Whoever among you lives to see that, let him go to them even if he has to crawl over snow

If you see the black flags emerging from Khorasan, go to them, even if you crawl on the snow, for there is the Caliph of Allah, the Mahdi.

The black flags emerge from Khorasan with weak people who gather together. Allah supports them with His victory, and then the people of Morocco emerge as a result.

A young man from Banu Hashim emerges with his right hand free from Khurasan with black banners in his hands, Shuaib bin Saleh, fighting the companions of Sufyani and defeating them.

If one man rules the Levant and the other reigns Egypt, and the Levant and the Egyptian fight, and the people of the Levant take captive tribes from Egypt, and a man from the East comes with small black banners before the ruler of the Levant, then he is the one who will lead obedience to the Mahdi.

Black flags of Banu Abbas will emerge from the East, then they will stay as long as Allah wills, then small black flags will emerge from the East, fighting a man from the descendants of Abu Sufyan and his companions, performing obedience to the Mahdi.

Black flags come out fighting the Sufyani. Among them is a young man from Bani Hashem, with a blank on his left shoulder, and on his front is a man from Bani Tamim called Shuaib bin Saleh. He defeats his companions.

The black flags emerging from Khorasan will descend on Kufa, and when the Mahdi appears in Mecca, the pledge of allegiance will be sent to him

Abdullah bin Marwan told us, on the authority of Artat, on the authority of Tabi’, on the authority of Ka’b, who said: “When the millstone of Banu Abbas has turned, and the owners of the black banners tie their horses to the olive trees of the Levant, and Allah destroys for them the red-haired man, and kills him and all of his household at their hands, until there is no Umayyad among them left except one who flees or disappears, and the two palms fall: Banu Ja’far and Banu Abbas, and the son of the liver-eater sits on the pulpit of Damascus, and the Berbers go out to The navel of Syria is the sign of the emergence of the Mahdi.”

If the horses of the Sufyani go out to Kufa, he will send in search of the people of Khurasan, and the people of Khorasan go out in search of the Mahdi, and he and Al-Hashemi will meet with black flags with Shuaib bin Salih on his front, and he and the companions of the Sufyani will meet at Bab Istakhr, and a great battle will take place between them, and the black flags will appear, and the horses of the Sufyani will flee, and then the people will hope for the Mahdi and seek him.
