أقل ما تغلبون عليه من الجهاد الجهاد بأيديكم، ثم الجهاد بألسنتكم، ثم الجهاد بقلوبكم، فأي قلب لم يعرف المعروف ولا ينكر المنكر جعل أعلاه أسفله
The least you can overcome in terms of jihad is jihad with your hands, then jihad with your tongues, then jihad with your hearts. For any heart that does not know what is right and does not denounce what is wrong, it makes the highest its lowest.
حدثنا ابن مهدي، عن سفيان، عن زبيد، عن الشعبي، عن أبي جحيفة، عن علي، قال
إذا كان القلب لا يعرف معروفا، ولا ينكر منكرا، نكس فجعل أعلاه أسفله
If the heart does not know what is right, nor does it reject what is wrong, it is set back, making the top the bottom

ما عهد إلينا في الإمارة عهدا نأخذ به، إنما هو شيء رأيته، فإن يك صوابا فمن الله، وإن يك خطأ فمن قبل أنفسنا

إذا اختلف أصحاب الرايات السود بينهم كان خسف قرية بإرم، يقال لها حرستا، وخروج الرايات الثلاث بالشام عندها
If the owners of the black banners disagreed among themselves, a village in Iram, called Harasta, would be eclipsed, and the three banners would emerge in the Levant at that time.
حدثنا الوليد، ورشدين، عن ابن لهيعة، عن أبي قبيل، عن أبي رومان، عن علي، رضي الله عنه قال
إذا ظهر أمر السفياني لم ينج من ذلك البلاء إلا من صبر على الحصار
If the matter of the Sufyani appears, no one will be saved from that calamity except those who are patient under the siege
قال ابن المبارك: وأنا عوف، عن رجل من أهل الكوفة، أحسبه قال: اسمه مسافر، عن علي قال
ينجو في ذلك الزمان كل مؤمن نومة

Al-Walid and Rushdin told us, on the authority of Ibn Lahi’ah, on the authority of Abu Qabil, on the authority of Abu Ruman, on the authority of Ali, who said: “If the owners of the black banners disagree, one of the villages of Iram will be eclipsed, and the western side of its mosque will fall, then three banners will emerge in the Levant: the reddish, the spotted, and the Sufyani. يظهر السفياني على الشام، ثم يكون بينهم وقعة بقرقيسيا، حتى يشبع طير السماء وسباع الأرض من جيفهم، ثم يفتق عليهم فتق من خلفهم، فيقبل طائفة منهم حتى يدخلوا أرض خراسان، وتقبل خيل السفياني في طلب أهل خراسان، فيقتلون شيعة آل محمد بالكوفة، ثم يخرج أهل خراسان في طلب المهدي
The Sufyani will appear in the Levant, and then there will be a clash between them in Qarqisiya, until the birds of the sky and the lions of the earth are satisfied with their carcasses. Then he will attack them with a gap behind them, and a group of them will come until they enter the land of Khurasan, and the horses of the Sufyani will come in search of the people of Khorasan, and they will kill the Shiites of the family of Muhammad in Kufa, then the people of Khorasan will go out in search of the Mahdi.

A man from my household will emerge with nine banners

تخرج رايات سود تقاتل السفياني، فيهم شاب من بني هاشم، في كتفه اليسرى خال، وعلى مقدمته رجل من بني تميم يدعى شعيب بن صالح، فيهزم أصحابه
Black flags come out fighting the Sufyani. Among them is a young man from Bani Hashem, with a blank on his left shoulder, and on his front is a man from Bani Tamim called Shuaib bin Saleh. He defeats his companions.
ثنا الوليد، ورشدين، عن ابن لهيعة، عن أبي قبيل، عن أبي رومان، عن علي، رضي الله عنه قال
يلتقي السفياني والرايات السود، فيهم شاب من بني هاشم، في كفه اليسرى خال، وعلى مقدمته رجل من بني تميم يقال له شعيب بن صالح بباب إصطخر، فتكون بينهم ملحمة عظيمة، فتظهر الرايات السود، وتهرب خيل السفياني، فعند ذلك يتمنى الناس المهدي ويطلبونه
The Sufyani and the Black Banners meet. Among them is a young man from Banu Hashim, with a blank on his left hand, and on his front is a man from Banu Tamim called Shuaib bin Saleh at Bab Istakhar. A great battle ensues between them, and the Black Banners appear, and the Sufyani’s horses flee. Then the people will wish for the Mahdi and seek him.
حدثنا الوليد، ورشدين، عن ابن لهيعة، عن أبي قبيل، عن أبي رومان، عن علي، قال
يبعث بجيش إلى المدينة فيأخذون من قدروا عليه من آل محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم، ويقتل من بني هاشم رجال ونساء، فعند ذلك يهرب المهدي والمبيض من المدينة إلى مكة، فيبعث في طلبهما، وقد لحقا بحرم الله وأمنه
He sends an army to Medina, and they seize whomever they can from the family of Muhammad ﷺ, and he kills men and women from Banu Hashim. Then, Al-Mahdi and Al-Mubaid escape from Medina to Mecca, and he sends in search of them, and they have reached the sanctuary and security of Allah.
حدثنا الوليد، ورشدين، عن ابن لهيعة، عن أبي قبيل، عن أبي رومان، عن علي، رضي الله عنه قال: " إذا نزل جيش في طلب الذين خرجوا إلى مكة فنزلوا البيداء خسف بهم، ويباد بهم، وهو قوله عز وجل: {ولو ترى إذ فزعوا فلا فوت وأخذوا من مكان قريب} [سبأ: 51] من تحت أقدامهم، ويخرج رجل من الجيش في طلب ناقة له، ثم يرجع إلى الناس فلا يجد منهم أحدا، ولا يحس بهم، وهو الذي يحدث الناس بخبرهم "

لا يخرج المهدي حتى يبصق بعضكم في وجه بعض
