He defeats the group twice, then he is destroyed. And you will slaughter a woman from the Quraysh, and in it the stomachs of any of the women of Bani Hashim will be ruptured.”

Abdullah bin Marwan told us, on the authority of Saeed bin Yazid al-Tanukhi, on the authority of al-Zuhri, who said: “If the black flags differ among themselves, the yellow flags come to them, and they gather in the bridge of the people of Egypt, and the people of the East and the people of the West fight seven times, and then the attack will be on the people of the East until they descend on Ramla, and something will happen between the people of the Levant and the people of the West, and the people of the West will become angry and say: We have come to support you, and then you will do what they do? between you and the people of the East, and they will plunder you, due to the scarcity of the people of the Levant on that day in their eyes. Then the Sufyani will emerge, and the people of the Levant will follow him, and he will fight the people of the East.”

Abu Yusuf al-Maqdisi told us, on the authority of Muhammad ibn Ubayd Allah, on the authority of Yazid ibn Sindi, on the authority of Ka’b, who said: “When the west appears over Egypt, the interior of the earth on that day is better than its surface for the people of the Levant. Woe to the two soldiers: the soldiers of Palestine and Jordan, and the soldiers of the land of Homs, of Berbers striking with their swords at a door for perfume, and the companion of the west is a lame man from Kinda.”

The Sufyani will emerge from the Levant, and the spotted one will emerge from Egypt, and the Sufyani will appear over them.”

Rushdin told us, on the authority of Ibn Lahi’a, on the authority of Abu Qabil, on the authority of Sa’id ibn al-Aswad, on the authority of Dhu Qarnat, he said: “The people differed in Safar, and separated into four groups: a man in Mecca who was seeking refuge, and two men in the Levant: one of them was the Sufyani, the other was from the birth of al-Hakam, blue and red-haired, and a man from the people of Egypt, a tyrant.
