نحوه

Iyad said, and Muhammad ibn al-Mankadir told us, he heard Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan mentioning, on the authority of a man, one of their scholars, something similar.

في المحرم ينادي مناد من السماء: ألا إن صفوة الله من خلقه فلان، فاسمعوا له وأطيعوا في سنة الصوت والمعمعة

During Muharram, a caller calls from the sky: Allah’s chosen one is so-and-so among His creation, so listen to him and obey him in the year of sound and fanfare.

إذا قتل النفس الزكية وأخوه، يقتل بمكة ضيعة، نادى مناد من السماء: إن أميركم فلان، وذلك المهدي الذي يملأ الأرض حقا وعدلا

If he kills the pure soul and his brother, he will be killed in a small village in Mecca. A herald will call from the sky: Your leader is so-and-so, and that is the Mahdi who will fill the earth with truth and justice.

تكون فرقة واختلاف حتى يطلع كف من السماء وينادي مناد: ألا إن أميركم فلان

There will be division and disagreement until a hand appears from the sky and a herald calls out: Your prince is so-and-so

بعد الخسف ينادي مناد من السماء: إن الحق في آل محمد، في أول النهار، ثم ينادي مناد في آخر النهار: إن الحق في ولد عيسى، وذلك نحوه من الشيطان

After the eclipse, a caller will call from the sky: The truth is in the family of Muhammad, at the beginning of the day, then a herald will call at the end of the day: The truth is in the son of Jesus, and that is similar to Satan.

إذا التقى السفياني والمهدي للقتال يومئذ يسمع صوت من السماء: ألا إن أولياء الله أصحاب فلان ، يعني المهدي قال الزهري: وقالت أسماء بنت عميس: إن أمارة ذلك اليوم أن كفا من السماء مدلاة ينظر إليها الناس

If the Sufyani and the Mahdi meet to fight, on that day a voice will be heard from the sky: Indeed, the friends of Allah are the companions of so-and-so, meaning the Mahdi. Al-Zuhri said: And Asmaa bint Umays said: The sign of that day is that a hand will be dropped from the sky for the people to look at.

إذا كان الناس بمنى وعرفات نادى مناد بعد أن تحازب القبائل: ألا إن أميركم فلان، ويتبعه صوت آخر: ألا إنه قد كذب، ويتبعه صوت آخر: ألا أنه قد صدق، فيقتتلون قتالا شديدا، فجل سلاحهم البراذع، وهو جيش البراذع، وعند ذلك ترون كفا معلمة في السماء، ويشتد القتال حتى لا يبقى من أنصار الحق إلا عدة أهل بدر، فيذهبون حتى يبايعوا صاحبهم

If the people are in Mina and Arafat, after the tribes have joined forces, a caller calls out: “Indeed, your prince is so-and-so,” followed by another voice: “Indeed, he has lied,” followed by another voice: “Indeed, he has told the truth.” So they fight fiercely, and most of their weapons are Al-Barada’, which is the army of Al-Barada’, and then you see palms marked in the sky, and the fighting intensifies until none of the supporters of the truth remain except a few of the people of Badr, so they go to pledge allegiance to their friend.

في ذي القعدة تحازب القبائل، وعامئذ ينتهب الحاج، فتكون ملحمة بمنى، فيكثر فيها القتلى، وتسفك فيها الدماء حتى تسيل دماؤهم على عقبة الجمرة، حتى يهرب صاحبهم، فيؤتى بين الركن والمقام فيبايع وهو كاره، ويقال له: إن أبيت ضربنا عنقك، فيبايعه مثل عدة أهل بدر، يرضى عنه ساكن السماء، وساكن الأرض

In Dhul-Qa'dah, the tribes join forces, and in that year the pilgrims plunder, and there is a battle at Mina, in which the dead are many, and blood is shed in it until their blood flows on the Jamarat Aqaba, until their companion flees, and he is brought between the corner and the Maqam and pledged allegiance, although he is unwilling, and it is said to him: If you refuse, we will behead you, and he pledges allegiance like the number of the people of Badr, and the inhabitant of heaven and the inhabitant of earth are satisfied with him.

يحج الناس معا، ويعرفون معا على غير إمام، فبينما هم نزول بمنى إذ أخذهم كالكلب، فثارت القبائل بعضهم إلى بعض، فاقتتلوا حتى تسيل العقبة دما، فيفزعون إلى خيرهم فيأتونه، وهو ملصق وجهه إلى الكعبة يبكي، كأني أنظر إلى دموعه، فيقولون: هلم فلنبايعك، فيقول: ويحكم، كم من عهد قد نقضتموه، وكم من دم قد سفكتموه، فيبايع كرها، فإن أدركتموه فبايعوه، فإنه المهدي في الأرض، والمهدي في السماء

People perform Hajj together, and they know each other without an imam. While they were descending on Mina, he seized them like a dog, and the tribes revolted against each other, fighting until the Aqaba was flowing with blood. They were terrified for their best and came to him, and he pressed his face to the Kaaba, crying, as if I was looking at his tears. They said: Come, let us pledge allegiance to you. So he said: And he judges, how many covenants have you broken, and how much blood have you shed, so he pledges allegiance. Unwillingly, if you find him, then pledge allegiance to him, for he is the Mahdi on earth, and the Mahdi is in heaven

في ذي القعدة تنحاز فيها القبائل إلى قبائلها، وذو الحجة ينهب الحاج فيها، والمحرم وما المحرم؟

In Dhu al-Qa'dah, tribes side with their tribes, and in Dhul-Hijjah, pilgrims loot, and what is forbidden and what is forbidden?

في ذي القعدة تحازب القبائل، وفي ذي الحجة ينهب الحاج، وفي المحرم ينادي مناد من السماء

In Dhul-Qa'dah, the tribes fight one another, in Dhul-Hijjah the pilgrims loot, and in Muharram a herald calls from the sky.

يبعث الله تعالى المهدي بعد إياس، وحتى يقول الناس: لا مهدي، وأنصاره ناس من أهل الشام، عدتهم ثلاثمائة وخمسة عشر رجلا، عدة أصحاب بدر، يسيرون إليه من الشام حتى يستخرجوه من بطن مكة من دار عند الصفا، فيبايعونه كرها، فيصلي بهم ركعتين صلاة المسافر عند المقام، ثم يصعد المنبر

Allah Almighty will send the Mahdi after Iyas, and until the people say: There is no Mahdi, and his supporters are people from the Sham (Greater Syria), numbering three hundred and fifteen men, as many as the Companions of Badr. They walk to him from the Sham (Greater Syria) until they extract him from the interior of Mecca from a house at Safa, and they pledge allegiance to him unwillingly, and he performs with them two rak’ahs the prayer of a traveler at the Maqam, then he ascends the pulpit.

يبايع المهدي بين الركن والمقام، لا يوقظ نائما، ولا يهريق دما

قال عبد الله بن عمرو، جيش يسمى جيش البراذع، يشقون البراذع فيتخذونها مجانا " قال: " فيومئذ لا يبقى من أنصار ذلك الصوت إلا عدة أهل بدر، ثلاثمائة وبضعة عشر رجلا، فينصرون ثم ينصرفون إلى صاحبهم، فيجدونه ملصقا ظهره إلى الكعبة، ترعد فرائصه، يتعوذ بالله من شر ما يدعونه إليه، فيكرهونه على البيعة، ويرجع أنصار الصوت الأسفل إلى الشام، فيقولون: قاتلنا قوما ما رأينا مثلهم قط، وإنما هم شرذمة قليلة

Abdullah bin Amr said, “An army is called the army of Al-Barada’. They cut the bars and take them for free.” He said: “On that day, only a number of the people of Badr, three hundred and twelve men, will remain of the supporters of that voice. They will be victorious and then go to their companion, and they will find him with his back to the Kaaba. The Sham (Greater Syria), and they say: We fought a people like whom we have never seen, but they are a small group

أما إنها ستكون فتنة، والناس يصلون معا، ويحجون معا، ويعرفون معا، ويضحون معا، ثم تهيج كالكلب، فيقتتلون حتى تسيل العقبة دما، وحتى يرى البريء أن براءته لن تنجيه، ويرى المعتزل أن اعتزاله لن ينفعه، ثم يستكرهون رجلا شابا مسندا ظهره بالركن، ترعد فرائصه، يقال له المهدي في الأرض، وهو المهدي في السماء، فمن أدركه فليتبعه

However, it will be a strife, and people will pray together, perform Hajj together, worship together, and sacrifice together, then they will rage like a dog, fighting until the obstacle is dripping with blood, and until the innocent person sees that his innocence will not save him, and the retreatant sees that his isolation will not benefit him, then they hate a young man with his back against the corner, his horses thundering, he will be called the Mahdi on earth, and he is the Mahdi in heaven, so whoever realizes him Let him follow him

إنه يخرج من المدينة إلى مكة فيستخرجه الناس من بينهم، فيبايعونه بين الركن والمقام وهو كاره

He leaves Medina for Mecca, and the people extract him from among them, and they pledge allegiance to him between the corner and the Maqam, but he hates it

تأتيه إمارته هنيئا وهو في بيته

His emirate brings him happiness while he is at home

إذا هزمت الرايات السود خيل السفياني التي فيها شعيب بن صالح، تمني الناس المهدي، فيطلبونه فيخرج من مكة ومعه راية النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فيصلي ركعتين بعد أن يئس الناس من خروجه لما طال عليهم من البلاء، فإذا فرغ من صلاته انصرف، فقال: أيها الناس، ألح البلاء بأمة محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم، وبأهل بيته خاصة قهرنا وبغي علينا

If the black banners defeat the horses of the Sufyani, which contains Shuaib bin Saleh, the people will wish for the Mahdi, and they will seek him, so he will leave Mecca with the banner of the Prophet ﷺ, and he will pray two rak’ahs after the people despaired of his departure due to the long affliction that befell them. When he finished praying, he left and said: O people, the affliction has befallen the nation of Muhammad ﷺ, and especially his family. We have been oppressed and oppressed.

يخرج ثلاثة نفر من قريش إلى مكة من جيش السفياني، منظور إليهم، فإذا بلغهم الخسف اجتمعوا بمكة لأولئك النفر الثلاثة من البلاد، فيبايع أحدهم كرها

Three members of the Quraish will go to Mecca from the Sufyani army, and they will be looked at. When the eclipse reaches them, they will gather in Mecca to those three people from the country, and one of them will pledge allegiance unwillingly.

يستخرج المهدي كارها من مكة من ولد فاطمة فيبايع

Al-Mahdi will forcefully extract from Mecca the descendants of Fatima and pledge allegiance

ثم يظهر المهدي بمكة عند العشاء ومعه راية رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وقميصه وسيفه، وعلامات ونور وبيان، فإذا صلى العشاء نادى بأعلى صوته يقول: أذكركم الله أيها الناس، ومقامكم بين يدي ربكم، فقد اتخذ الحجة، وبعث الأنبياء، وأنزل الكتاب، وأمركم أن لا تشركوا به شيئا، وأن تحافظوا على طاعته وطاعة رسوله، وأن تحيوا ما أحيا القرآن، وتميتوا ما أمات، وتكونوا أعوانا على الهدى، ووزرا على التقوى، فإن الدنيا قد دنا فناؤها وزوالها، وأذنت بالوداع، فإني أدعوكم إلى الله، وإلى رسوله، والعمل بكتابه، وإماتة الباطل، وإحياء سنته، فيظهر في ثلاثمائة وثلاثة عشر رجلا، عدة أهل بدر، على غير ميعاد قرعا كقرع الخريف، رهبان بالليل، أسد بالنهار، فيفتح الله للمهدي أرض الحجاز، ويستخرج من كان في السجن من بني هاشم، وتنزل الرايات السود الكوفة، فيبعث بالبيعة إلى المهدي، ويبعث المهدي جنوده في الآفاق، ويميت الجور وأهله، وتستقيم له البلدان، ويفتح الله على يديه القسطنطينية

Then the Mahdi will appear in Mecca at the evening prayer, carrying the banner of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, his shirt, his sword, and signs, light, and a statement. When he prays the evening prayer, he calls out at the top of his voice, saying: I remind you of Allah, O people, and your position is in the hands of your Lord. He has taken the proof, sent the prophets, and revealed the Book, and commanded you not to associate anything with it, and to maintain obedience to Him and obedience to His Messenger, and to live what the Qur’an has enlivened, and to die. What has died, and be a helper to guidance and a burden to piety, for the world has approached its end and its extinction, and it has called for farewell. I call you to Allah, and to His Messenger, and to act according to His Book, and to kill falsehood, and to revive its Sunnah. Then three hundred and thirteen men, the number of the people of Badr, will appear without appointment, with a lottery like the autumn lottery, monks by night, a lion by day, so Allah will open for the Mahdi the land of Hijaz, and he will be extracted from He was in prison from Bani Hashim, and the black flags descended on Kufa, and he sent the pledge of allegiance to the Mahdi, and the Mahdi would send his soldiers in the horizons, and he would kill oppression and its people, and countries would straighten up for him, and Allah would conquer Constantinople at his hands.

إذا انقطعت التجارات والطرق، وكثرت الفتن، خرج سبعة رجال علماء من أفق شتى، على غير ميعاد، يبايع لكل رجل منهم ثلاثمائة وبضعة عشر رجلا، حتى يجتمعوا بمكة، فيلتقي السبعة، فيقول بعضهم لبعض: ما جاء بكم؟ فيقولون: جئنا في طلب هذا الرجل الذي ينبغي أن تهدأ على يديه هذه الفتن، وتفتح له القسطنطينية، قد عرفناه باسمه واسم أبيه وأمه وحليته، فيتفق السبعة على ذلك، فيطلبونه فيصيبونه بمكة، فيقولون له: أنت فلان بن فلان؟ فيقول: لا، بل أنا رجل من الأنصار، حتى يفلت منهم، فيصفونه لأهل الخبرة والمعرفة به، فيقال: هو صاحبكم الذي تطلبونه، وقد لحق بالمدينة، فيطلبونه بالمدينة فيخالفهم إلى مكة، فيطلبونه بمكة فيصيبونه، فيقولون: أنت فلان بن فلان، وأمك فلانة بنت فلان، وفيك آية كذا وكذا، وقد أفلت منا مرة، فمد يدك نبايعك؟ فيقول: لست بصاحبكم، أنا فلان بن فلان الأنصاري، مروا بنا أدلكم على صاحبكم، حتى يفلت منهم، فيطلبونه بالمدينة فيخالفهم إلى مكة، فيصيبونه بمكة عند الركن، فيقولون: إثمنا عليك، ودماؤنا في عنقك إن لم تمد يدك نبايعك، هذا عسكر السفياني قد توجه في طلبنا، عليهم رجل من جرم، فيجلس بين الركن والمقام، فيمد يده فيبايع له، ويلقي الله محبته في صدور الناس، فيسير مع قوم أسد بالنهار، رهبان بالليل

If trade and roads are cut off, and strife increases, seven scholarly men from various regions will come out without an appointment, and three hundred and fifteen men will pledge allegiance to each of them, until they meet in Mecca, and the seven will meet and say to each other: What has brought you? They say: We have come in search of this man, at whose hands these temptations should be calmed, and Constantinople should be opened to him. We have known him by his name, the name of his father and mother, and his jewelry. So the seven agree on that, so they seek him and attack him in Mecca, and they say to him: Are you so-and-so, son of so-and-so? So he says: No, but I am a man from the Ansar, until he escapes from them, and they describe him to the people with experience and knowledge of him, and it is said: He is your friend whom you are looking for, and he has joined Medina. Then they search for him in Medina and he goes against them to Mecca. They search for him in Mecca and catch him. They say: You are so-and-so, son of so-and-so, and your mother is so-and-so, daughter of so-and-so, and such-and-such is among you, and he escaped from us once, so extend your hand so we can pledge allegiance to you? He says: I am not your friend. I am so-and-so, the son of so-and-so, Al-Ansari. Pass by us and I will guide you to your friend, until he escapes from them. They seek him in Medina and he goes with them to Mecca. They catch him in Mecca at the Corner, and they say: Our sin is upon you, and our blood is on your neck if you do not extend your hand to pledge allegiance to us. This is the army of Al-Sufyani, who has directed our request. A man of crime is upon them. He sits between the Corner and the Maqam, so he extends his hand and pledges allegiance to him, and Allah casts His love in them. People's chests, so he walks with lion's people during the day and monks at night

يأتيه عصاب العراق، وأبدال الشام، فيبايعونه بين الركن والمقام، فيلقي الإسلام بجرانه

The gangs of Iraq and the replacements of the Sham (Greater Syria) come to him and pledge allegiance to him between the corner and the Maqam, and he throws Islam into his embrace

إذا سمع العائذ الذي بمكة بالخسف خرج مع اثني عشر ألفا، فيهم الأبدال، حتى ينزلوا إيلياء، فيقول الذي بعث الجيش حين يبلغه الخبر بإيلياء: لعمرو الله لقد جعل الله في هذا الرجل عبرة، بعثت إليه ما بعثت فساخوا في الأرض، إن هذا لعبرة وبصيرة، ويؤدي إليه السفياني الطاعة، ثم يخرج حتى يلقى كلبا وهم أخواله، فيعيرونه بما صنع ويقولون: كساك الله قميصا فخلعته؟ فيقول: ما ترون، أستقيله البيعة؟ فيقولون: نعم، فيأتيه إلى إيلياء فيقول: أقلني، فيقول: إني غير فاعل، فيقول: بلى، فيقول له: أتحب أن أقيلك؟ فيقول: نعم، ثم يقول: هذا رجل قد خلع طاعتي، فيأمر به عند ذلك فيذبح على بلاطة إيلياء، ثم يسير إلى كلب، فالخائب من خاب يوم نهب كلب

If the seeker in Mecca hears of the eclipse, he will go out with twelve thousand, including the Abdals, until they come down to Elijah. Then the one who sent the army when the news of Elijah reaches him says: By Amr Allah, Allah has made this man an example. I sent to him what I sent, so they disobeyed the land. Indeed, this is a lesson and an insight, and the Sufyani obeys him, then he goes out until he meets a dog, and they are his uncles, and they reproach him for what he has done and say: May Allah cover you with a shirt. So you took it off? He says: What do you see? Should he resign the pledge of allegiance? They say: Yes, so he comes to Elia and says: Pick me up, and he says: I am not doing it. He says: Yes, and he says to him: Would you like me to sack you? He says: Yes, then he says: This is a man who has renounced my obedience. Then he orders him to slaughter on Ilya’s flagstone, then he walks to Kalb. So, the one who is disappointed is the one who is disappointed on the day Kalb is looted.

يسير حتى ينزل إيلياء، ويبايعه الآخر فرقا منه، ثم يندم، فيستقيله فيقيله، ثم يأمر بقتله وقتل من أمر بالغدر
