Abdullah bin Marwan told us, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Ka’b, who said: “If a man from the Abbasids called Abdullah reigns, and he is the one with the Eye of the Hereafter among them, with it they open it and with it they seal it, then he is the key to the sword of annihilation. If that happens, the people of the East and the people of the West will rush to the Levant as a betting horse, seeing that the kingship will not be fulfilled. Except for those who control the Levant, everyone says: Whoever conquers it has captured the kingdom.”
