Chapter 7: The Prophet's Saying: Whoever Raises Weapons Against Us is Not of Us
...with them. This supports the school of the Kufan grammarians regarding the estimation of the omitted word in similar constructions. Muslim added at the end of the hadith: 'we leveled (saddadna) them toward each other's faces.' This is with the undotted seen (سددنا), meaning we aimed them at their faces; it is a metonymy for the mutual fighting that occurred between them in those wars that took place at the Camel (al-Jamal) and Siffin. In these two hadiths, there is clear proof for the prohibition of fighting and killing a Muslim, the extreme gravity of the matter, the prohibition of engaging in means that lead to harming him in any manner, and evidence supporting the juristic principle of blocking the means to evil (sadd al-dhara'i').
