Section 12: The Second Trumpet Blast of Annihilation (Nafkhat al-Saq) in Which All Living Beings Perish

On his authority, from the Prophet (ﷺ), who said: "How can I enjoy myself when the bearer of the Trumpet has already taken the Horn into his mouth, inclined his ear, and is awaiting the command as to when he will be ordered to blow?" It was as if this weighed heavily upon the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), so he said to them: "Say: Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs."

It is also narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) in a marfu' narration: "The bearer of the Trumpet has not blinked ever since he was entrusted with it, being fully prepared and looking towards the Throne, fearing lest he be commanded with the blast before his glance returns to him. His two eyes are like two brilliant, shining stars." It was recorded by Abu al-Hasan ibn Sakhr in his "Fawa'id", as well as others.

Ibn al-Mubarak, Mu'ammal ibn Isma'il, and 'Ali ibn Ma'bad recorded a hadith on the authority of Ibn Mas'ud, in which it states: "Then the Angel of the Trumpet shall stand between the heaven and the earth and blow into it (and the Trumpet is a horn), so that no creature in the heavens and the earth shall remain except that it dies, save whom your Lord wills," to the end of the hadith. Allah the Exalted has indeed said: {Everything will perish except His Face} [Al-Qasas: 88]. Thus, the implication of this verse is the destruction of everything except Him, Glorified is He. The Allamah said: This is one opinion on the issue, as some have said: Allah will annihilate everything, even Paradise and Hellfire, and nothing will remain besides Him. They said: This is the meaning of His saying, the Exalted: {He is the First and the Last} [Al-Hadid: 3]. Al-Ghazali said: "I was told by one who does not..."
