Hadith 255: Epitaph Inscriptions Found on Ancient Tombs and Ascetic Reflections

الحديث 255: باب ما قرئ من الكتاب على القبور ومواعظ الزاهدين

وسمعت بعض أصحابنا يذكر عن بعض أهل العلم قال أصبت هذه الأبيات قبل الإسلام بألفي عام في غار من غيران نجد فترجمت

এবং আমি আমাদের কিছু সঙ্গীকে এক আলেমের সূত্রে উল্লেখ করতে শুনেছি, যিনি বলেন: "আমি ইসলামের দুই হাজার বছর আগের এই কাব্যপঙ্‌ক্তিগুলো নজদের একটি গুহায় পেয়েছি, অতঃপর তা অনুবাদ করা হয়:

And I heard some of our companions mention from one of the scholars, who said: "I found these verses, inscribed two thousand years before Islam, in a cave among the caves of Najd, and they were translated:

منع البقاء فلا بقاء عليكما ... ليل بكر سواده ونهاره

'স্থায়িত্বকে রহিত করা হয়েছে, সুতরাং তোমাদের দুজনেরই কোনো স্থায়িত্ব নেই: এক রজনী যার আঁধার ঘনিয়ে আসে, এবং তার দিবস।

'Permanence has been denied, so there is no lasting for you both: a night whose darkness presses on, and its day.

حزنا لم يريا معا في موطن ... وكلاهما تجري به المقدار

দুটি স্বতন্ত্র সত্তা, যা কখনো একই স্থানে একত্রে দেখা যায় না; অথচ উভয়ের মাধ্যমেই তাকদীরের ফয়সালা বাস্তবায়িত হয়।

Two distinct entities that are never seen together in a single place, yet through both of them the divine decrees are executed.

لو نال شيء يلبسان حلوقه ... وعاورته الريح والأمطار

তারা যা জীর্ণ করে দেয় তা যদি কোনো বস্তুর ক্ষেত্রে সামান্য অবশিষ্টও থাকে, তবুও বাতাস ও বৃষ্টি পর্যায়ক্রমে তাকে ক্ষয় করে ফেলে।

Even if anything were to endure what they wear down of its worn remnants, the wind and rain would continually batter it.

ولقد رمقنا الليل أين أتى به ... والشمس فانحسرت بنا الأبصار

বস্তুত আমরা রাতের দিকে গভীর দৃষ্টিতে তাকিয়ে দেখেছি কোথা থেকে তা আবির্ভূত হয়, আর সূর্যের দিকেও, অবশেষে আমাদের দৃষ্টি ক্লান্ত ও অবসন্ন হয়ে পড়েছে।

Indeed, we have intently watched the night, whence it is brought, and the sun, until our eyes grew dim and weary.

والله يقضي بين ذلك أمره ... فيكون فيه اليسر والإعسار

আর এর মাঝে আল্লাহ তাঁর হুকুম কার্যকর করেন, ফলে তাতে স্বাচ্ছন্দ্য ও সংকট আবর্তিত হয়।

And Allah decrees His matter through all of that, so therein come ease and hardship.

وبه فناء قبيلة ونماؤها ... وتوارد الأيام والأصدار.

আর এরই মাধ্যমে কোনো গোত্রের বিনাশ ঘটে এবং কোনোটির সমৃদ্ধি হয়, আর সংঘটিত হয় দিনগুলোর অবিরাম আগমন ও প্রস্থান।'"

And through it occurs the annihilation of a tribe and its flourishing, and the arrival and departure of the days.'"
